Mixed-Up Fairy Tales is a point-and-click adventure game. Released in 1991 for DOS, this game was developed and published by Sierra Entertainment. The game was marketed for children seven and up.
Bookwyrm transports you back to his house in fairy tale land. He tells you that a mean troll named Bookend has mixed up five famous stories: Cinderella, Beauty and the Beast, Snow White, Jack and the Beanstock, and the Bremen Town Musicians. Without your help, none of these stories will have a happy ending. So your adventure begins!
A prior knowledge of the stories will help children figure out which important item belongs to which tale. When the player has completed a section, the characters will leave to play out the story off screen.
My only true critique, which really isn't a critique, is this game is definitely a children's game. Other Sierra kids games have aged better than Mixed-Up Fairy Tales. I don't know if this game could still appeal to children. I still love it through and through as a childhood classic!
- A wonderful game for children
- Great music
- Fun graphics
- An interactive aid for fairy tales
- It hasn't aged well
