As Dr. Greene leaves, you enter the pool area and attempt to feed the recuperating mammal. Slowly, you gain the trust of the Dolphin and feed him. Just before finishing, you decide to play Frisbee with the Dolphin when the strangest thing happens: he speaks. He tells you his name is Delphineus and he was trying to find his King Cetus when he was captured in the fishing net. Delphineus asks to be freed and you comply. A few days later your taking-Dolphin chum returns and asks for your help. You don your scuba gear and your adventure begins!
There are a few areas to this game: Adam's house, the ocean, Eluria, the ocean floor, shipwrecks, and toxic environments. You must traverse these with bravery if you are going to face the mutated Manta Ray known as Flesh-Eater and save the King! On your adventure you help the citizens of Eluria pull themselves together after the disappearance of the King. You gain the trust of the fish and Crustaceans of the area, eventually meeting the Oracle. She informs you that you must travel farther out into the ocean to find a great source of pain. Relieving this pain will open the path to the King, and your destiny!
EcoQuest was definitely marketed to children but it was fun and creative with some environmental messages. It wasn't exceptionally deep, but hey, there was a talking Dolphin, how deep do you need?
- Fun and creative areas and characters
- Good puzzles
- Replay ability
- Satisfying gameplay
- Relatively short (if you've played it before)
- I never got all the points
