You spend a good portion of time in the over world exploring. The over world shows you towns, dungeons, resources, warp stones, and creatures you can interact with.
You collect crystals to level up your powers. Purple power crystals make you stronger, blue weave crystals are used in Weaveworld to gain more powerful Ishos, and red power crystals are used to power dungeons and temples.
A beautifully rendered introduction gives the game its setting. An alien planet named Jorune is discovered by a Human starship. The planet is inhabited by many other species and civilisations. Humans setup a colony to explore relations with the many races of Jorune. All is well until Earth is destroyed by nuclear war. The Human colonists, knowing they are the last of their race, enter into a costly war with Jorune's natives, the Shanthas. This war decimates both Humans and Shanthas to near extinction.
There is a lot of content in this game. There are many temples and dungeons to be explored, side quests throughout the whole game, and lore to learn! You encounter many species, some of which you learn to avoid. You make friends and enemies. This game also shows you the toll Humanity has had on Jorune and its citizens.
For all its beautiful graphics (for the time), engrossing lore, and fun game play, the bugs and glitches take something away from the game, like a punch in the face to your immersion. For that, I can only give it 4 out of 5, though in my heart it's a 5 out of 5.
- Imaginative setting and characters
- Fun gameplay elements
- Engrossing story
- Glitches may cause you to rip out hair and or cry
