Hungry Shark Evolution is a mobile game developed by Future Games of London (FLOG). FLOG was acquired by Ubisoft to work on mobile games for phones and tablets in 2013. This is possibly one of the most popular free games available on the Play Store, having just over a 100 million downloads. If you're a mobile game player, I doubt I'm introducing you to this game.
You gain coins and gems by completing missions, finding collectables and eating gold creatures. You spend the coins and gems on levelling up skills, buying new sharks and equipment. The equipment can give you more energy, make you stronger or make acquiring coins easier. These things aren't necessary to play the game, but it can be hilarious. Voilà, my megalodon! Yes, it is wearing a witches hat and an eye patch with a gold chain.
This game, to me, is fun in short bursts. There are incentives to play everyday, money and gems. It's not something I play for more than 10-20 minutes. Though game is free, there is the ability to spend actual money to get coins and gems (in-app purchases). I won't lie, I hate in-app purchases. I do realise it is part of how companies make profit on the games they create but I have heard of stories of people spending thousands of dollars every month, that they did not have, on in-app purchases for upgrades in mobile games. I know those are extreme cases. Maybe I just don't trust myself with the ability to spend real money to advance in games. I just don't like it but that is only my opinion.
- You can eat everything when you level up enough
- It's free
- You can earn free coins and gems by watching advertisements
- It's repetitive
- In-app purchases
